Good Neighbors Rwanda is a non-governmental organization registered with the Government of the Republic of Korea. It has agreed to cooperate with WFP in providing services for implementing the project including the administration, community mobilization mainly the Village Development Committees. The memorandum of understanding will be effective from January 1st to December 31st 2012 and will be implemented under WFP’s Food for Work/Cash for Work activities with 1600 beneficiaries involved.

According to the two parties, the commitment to women and gender equality shall be a priority throughout the execution of this Agreement. Unity Club appreciates this commitment because it is in line with our goals to promote social cohesion and work together towards the sustainable development.

Within this project, Unity Club had signed another MoU with WFP focusing mainly on the key role in leadership and community mobilization, advocacy for peace, unity and reconciliation among Cyanika community in Nyamagabe district. This commitment will significantly contribute to the promotion of unity among Rwandans and socio-economic development of the country.

In 2011, WFP supported Unity Club with 45,954,600frw to buy 50 cows for Unity Club beneficiaries in Nyamagabe District and the procurement of office equipments. The 50 cows contributed to the Presidential initiative of one cow per poor family and this also helped poor families to quickly move out of poverty and fight malnutrition by getting milk to drink as well as selling the rest to obtain cash income. In addition, the manure from the cow is used to improve soil fertility and increase crop production.
