Introduction :

His Excellency the President of the Republic of Rwanda, Paul Kagame and First Lady, Madame Jeannette Kagame, annually celebrate Christmas with selected children from all districts. All children receive Christmas gifts. This special season is an opportunity to think about vulnerable children such as orphans, the disabled , and those who head their households. It is also a time to call upon all the Rwandans to care for, love and give support to these children, as basic children’s rights.

Some of children’s rights are :

 To care for all children without any discrimination ;

 To protect them and meet all their basic needs ;

 To give priority to children’s interests in decision making ;

 To provide a safe environment for every child ;

This year Unity Club, under the leadership of Her Excellency Mrs. Jeannette Kagame will host the event at Village Urugwiro.

Objectives :

To continuously sensitize all Rwandans on children right (love, meeting their needs) and educating children on Rwandan values.

Participants :

3 children from each district were selected to attend the party. Selection criteria include : being an orphan (preferably living in an orphanage) ; gender balance ; school performance ; children from disadvantaged families ; children who have not participated in the previous Children parties or any other children forum in Kigali. The total number from districts is 120 participants where we shall have (90 children and 30 Vice mayors accompanying them). Unity Club Members : 70 children plus or minus 50 parents accompanying them thus a total of 120 participants.
