Mr Alphonse BAKUSI, the leader in charge of promoting cultural values, patriotism and dedication at National Itorero Commission (NIC) talked about the influence of national Itorero in patriotic activities highlighting that national Itorero is a platform where Rwandans learn the history of their country and patriotism.
“The national Itorero is also a place where we draw Rwandan History and share it with Rwandans, teach and help people through various practices.” He said.
After Genocide committed against Tutsi, Rwandan youth massively participated in various patriotic activities. Gasore Serge is one of the youth who actively participated and even got rewarded as the guardian of covenant due to his big contribution in building Rwandan Society starting from Bugesera District where he was born.
In his conversation, Gasore explained and revealed the reasons that made him have the idea of creating an organization called "Gasore Serge Foundation", saying that in his holidays coming back from America where he studied, there was much darkness in his village and he decided to help.
He said, “Whenever I used to come in holidays from USA where I had been studying, I could see and notice vividly a heavy darkness and people bearing gloomy faces and I realized that there was no light where I had lived, people were depressed and low-spirited and unhappy. As a result, this made me think of what I could do to help the people from my home even if it would be a small thing.”
In this dialogue, there was also Murenzi Tristan who created an organization called "Rwanda we Want" to give a space for youth to talk in order to grow powerfully in all aspects of life and become future leaders. He said that through this organization, youth talk about the history of Rwanda and teach their younger ones.
"We as the youth want Rwandans who are united altogether and we want that young people will grow and tell their children the truth about the History of our country." He said.
Uwamariya Assoumpta, the commissioner of RPF Inkotanyi, and industrious woman who also started and established the Wine Factory in Rubavu District, gave job opportunities to her fellow youth for generating income and growing economically. She asked the youth to keep the fire of patriotism burning.
She said "I implore the youth to keep patriotism in their mind, and fight for the success of our country and fight against what is wrong as well."
